avastclear - version specific ?

Hello -
one of my XP systems is running an older version of the free product (shields only) 2014.9.0.2021.

I’m interested in uninstalling and trying the latest beta.

I don’t have the avastclear associated with the old version. Will the most recent avastclear
do a proper cleanup on this much older version ?

Thanks for any info.

No, avast clear isn’t removing any installation of avast completely.
If you want a proper removal, you will need to do it manually.

As far as I’m aware the most recent version of the Uninstall Utility, avastclear.exe, should be backwards compatible. Obviously forward compatibility can’t be guaranteed with an old version of avastclear.exe.

I think that this link gives the latest regular release version http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avastclear.exe

For beta builds if you are intending trying the beta you would need this is you subsequently wish to go back on a clean reinstall http://files.avast.com/beta9x/avastclear.exe.

Yes, it works for version 9/10/11.

The answer is still no.
It doesn’t do a proper cleanup.

It is still better than a user trying to do this manually if they don’t have the experience/knowledge.

As far as I’m concerned it does sufficient a job to resolve many issues which is seen in the many users that have done this on recommendation in the forums. I also believe it does a better job than the many so called cleanup tools out there.
