Since avast (and most browsers) provide some protection against phishing sites, plus the network shield and web shield also. I would say that you don’t really need this additional tool which is causing a bit of grief.
My email has been getting bombarded the last few days from club members of the Clubs where I’ve done presentations
about the avast! notification on visicom_antiphishing.exe
The following reply that I’ve prepared has been taking care of this problem:
"The avast! detection is because you appear to be running the following:
Visicom antipishing. (visicom_antiphishing.exe) is powered by Panda…which is known to not encrypt its malware signatures…and that is whats detected http://software.visicommedia.com/en/products/antiphishing/
Uninstall visicom and your problem should be gone…
You aren’t the first person to write to me about this same problem.
You may also have the following Toolbar on your system:
Blekko search bar by visicom media which needs to be uninstalled.
The best tool for removing Toolbars and other such unwanted items is called AdwCleaner. The following link provides instructions on how to use it. The bottom link is a direct download link of AdwCleaner. AdwCleaner is a tool that deletes :
· Adwares (software ads)
· PUP/LPI (Potentially Undesirable Program)
· Toolbars
· Hijacker (Hijack of the browser’s homepage)
