I then received an email from my file backup service, Mozy, saying they had an error in trying to back up my files.
They said "some anti-virus activities might see Mozy watching all file activity and think that is suspicious. If you find this error keeps coming back, make sure Mozy is added to your anti-virus software’s list of allowed programs. "
There is three grayed out options in that page that allows support for open files. Without them, you could have problems.
I would never disable the antivirus for nothing… Mozy should work and the antivirus is not blocking files to be backuped.
If you open the Mozy log (history), which are the files being listed as errors.
Okay. I checked off those boxes and tried to run Mozy backup. It failed and I got this Error Message:
FilterError0
This is generally caused by security software (such as anti virus) disabling the MozyHome file filter. In some cases, it disables the needed files. In other cases, it deletes the file altogether. Whatever the case, it disables MozyHome until it is reinstalled. Simply disabling the anti virus or other security software is not enough to stop the error from occurring. MozyHome is broken by the other software and must be fixed before it will run.
Please note that even if you previously had the security software and MozyHome both working together for some time, this is still the case. Most security software has regular updates. Anti virus in particular has updates anywhere from every day to every week. These updates can cause the software to begin flagging MozyHome as malicious software.
