I may be on the wrong track here but in the last week I have had a problem develop with e-mail being deleted on one of my e-mail accounts.
I use MailwasherPro to pre read my e-mail, Avast also checks this e-mail.
However on just one account (I have 4 to be checked) Avast deletes it before I get a chance to download.
If I disable Avast completely the e-mail stays - no problem, reactivate Avast deletion happens, but only on this one account

Well, version 4.8 does not have automated actions… something is weird.
Are you sure that it is avast who is deleting it? Is it clean (not infected) mail?
As Tech mentions avast 4.8 doesn’t have automated actions.
However:
Since MailWasher doesn’t download the complete email to do its analysis, it only downloads the headers, a small part of the body, it doesn’t download images or attachments and it views what is downloaded in text only. Based on this I personally don’t feel that any negligible risk worth scanning duplication, but the choice is yours.
By editing the avast4.ini file, [MailScanner] section using a text editor like notepad. It is best to save a copy of avast4.ini to another location in case of any problem, you can then copy the original back.

IgnoreProcess=MailWasher.exe add this line if you don’t already have an IgnoreProcess line.
Save the changes to avast4.ini and exit, the avast self-defence module will ask are you sure about the changes, etc. answer Yes.

Problem solved - absolutely nothing to do with Avast at all.
I was running a trial program called “Choicemail” this was the culprit.
However I have decided to upgrade to version 5.
