avastPRO notification ...

Hi,

I am using the Avast PRO since over a year know.
Is there any way that I can disable virus notification during web browsing?
I would like Avast to take care of virus attacks automatically without intervention pop/ups!

Also I have discovered a couple of times when Avast has alarmed me about a virus, that I have been unable to follow the advised steps given by Avast, ie. “move to chest” … and instead been given the notice “unable to move to chest as another program is using the file right now”.

The only solution in these cases have been to “ignore” - which in turns have left me with the virus, forcing me to format 320GB worth of harddrive … :-\

Using XP PRO SP2 fully patched …

Regards,
Steve

Hello

Yes there is such a way. Just turn on the silent mode of the Web Shield. You can do it in the Web Shield Options on the page “Advanced”

Well in this cases it’s better to do a boot-time scan instead of formating the whole hard drive. The program can’t move the file because it’s already in use. The boot-time scan will scan your computer before Windows starts and this way the infected file will be safely removed  You can schedule boot time scan from: Menu → Schedule Boot Time Scan

See Professional version options here: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=13315.msg112285#msg112285
Silent mode in the case of the WebShield provider simply means that avast will keep pressing the “Abort connection” button for hte user automatically.

Access denied means, generally, that the file is in use by another process (program) and cannot be repaired/cleaned/moved/handled by avast!
You must schedule a boot-time scanning:
Start avast! > Right click the skin (Home version) > Schedule a boot-time scanning.
Select for scanning archives.
Boot.
Or use the proper options for scheduling a boot time scanning from Professional version (Scheduler).
