Avasts web shield and privoxy

Hello

I’m currently using avast 5 free and privoxy and unfortunately Avasts web shield (going by eicar test files) will not work with web browsers set up to use privoxy.

Is there any way to setup avasts so websites accessed through privoxy are checked by the web shield?

You would have to co-ordinate the privoxy ports with the web shield, presumably privoxy uses some sort of proxy, what is it ?

I suspect that you would have to add the provoxy port to the web shield redirects and uncheck the Ignore local communication option.

I’m not sure how privoxy works, so I don’t know if this will work.

Open the avastUI, Settings, Troubleshooting section, Redirect Settings, WEB, HTTP port(s)add the privoxy port after the 80, e.g. 80,8118 where 8118 is the privoxy port (you will need to confirm that privoxy port) and uncheck the Ignore local communication, see image example.
