Since a few days my FW shows that AvastSvc.exe is continuously listening on 9 source ports in the range 12000 on protocol TCP.
It didn’t happen previously and I’m wondering what could trigger this perpetual listening state. Is it a new normal behavior for this file? Did something change in Avast config? How could I avoid the listening by AvastSvc.exe?
It has been happening since at least avast version5 but slightly differently on a shield basis.
The avastSvc.exe controls all shields and the listening ports are down to the redirects in the various shields so that http and email traffic, etc. is redirected through the localhost proxy. So it needs to monitor/listen on these ports.
I’m embarassed. I’ve been using Avast for several years and just now noticed the listening of Svc.exe!!! Well must be some sort of Alzeimer. My apologies for having asked what appeared to me now to be quite a silly question.
