Avastsvc.exe constant network activity

Hello.

I am Using Avast Internet Security and I have noticed something strange.

While Avast is enabled and all shields running, I have a constant network activity of around 5-7 kBs/sec, even though the system is completely idle and no other services are accessing the internet at least not in a meaningful way.

Ok it’s not much but I want to know what’s going on and how can I turn it off.

The Avast streaming service is constantly generating traffic (as the OP reports)? Or is it supposed to just frequently check the servers for updates?

The term “streaming” does imply a constant traffic stream, but there are typically only about 5-20 small updates per hour.

Thanks for your answers.

It turns out that Avast was not the problem actually.

There was some very weird malfunction of Cfosspeed that was generating the traffic and actually also DOSed all my network.

Took me some time to figure out.
