I Have the Process lasso program which is an automated Windows process (program) management and optimization utility. Among some other processes it also temporarily lowers the Avastsvc.exe process to enable other critical processes to take place.
Questions: Is there any problem with temporarily lowering this particular process priority ? Can it affect the AV program function?
I would not recommend it - avast service sets higher priority for some threads responsible for scanning. If you change process priority, threads priority will be also lowered. So, if avast wants to scan a file (real-time shield, behavior shield, …) it asks avast service to do that job - and with priority changes, the service may have slower reactions (scanning speed, answers come slower, …) and current file operation is pended. Consequences may be visible under heavy CPU usage.
