AvastSvc.exe running at 50% CPU or higher

I just recently updated to the new version of Avast Premier and now my CPU usage is always at 50% or higher because of AvastSvc.exe. I have tried uninstalling it and re-installing it and repairing it and nothing seems to work. Also, every time I reboot my computer, it says one of the shields isn’t working and in order to get them all back on, I have to disable them all and turn them all back on, which gets them all on except for the Mail Shield which I have to manually turn on to get it to full protection.

  • Which Avast…? (Free/Pro/IS/Premier) Premier
  • Which version…? 11.1.2245
  • OS…? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP/Build…?) Win7 64bit SP1
  • Other security related software installed…? Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (Never had a problem with both before this)
  • Which AV(s) did you use before Avast…? Avast previous release, but did full uninstall through my Control Panel and also repaired it from there as well to have the new version
  1. Download Avast Premier Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_premier_antivirus_setup.exe
  2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.

Did all of that to no avail. It worked at first up until I rebooted and it went straight back to doing what I first had the problem with in my OP.

This is what I’m looking at right now

Attach your basic diagnostic logs. (MBAM, FRST and aswMBR)

Ok, here you go

OK, now you’ve to wait a bit…

I’ve been dealing with this literally all day. It’s almost 3AM where I am now. I have looked and looked for a solution and tried everything and now I have to wait even longer while your program slowly eats away at my CPU? I think I will probably be better off just uninstalling it and going with something else at this rate. If I knew I was going to have this much problem with it, I wouldn’t have paid for it and just stayed with the free version.

We may need to do a full clean install on completion

CAUTION : This fix is only valid for this specific machine, using it on another may break your computer
