Hi I Am Using Avast! Free (5.0) When Avastsvc.exe Is Running Its Using 50-80% Of My CPU And Stopping Me From Opening Most things.
I Am Using Windows Uitmate (SP 2 64BIT) Any One Know What is Up With This?
I Have Being Using Avast! For A Long Time And It Has Not Done That Before
I Had To Stop The “Avastsvc.exe” To Use My PC lol
Well, you’re killing the antivirus and the protection…
You need to find the culprit. What is being scanned at that time?
Open avast interface and go to the Shields, which file is being scanned by File Shield?
Are you browsing when this occur? Copying files?
Now The Avastsvc.exe Just keeps “Stops Working” It Had Not Found Any Malware Before I Stopped It I Had It ruining using 50% For A few Hrs Before I Stop It
I Was Not browsing Copying files when this occurred it Just Randomly Happened
lol90210, with the data you’re supplying us, it’s difficult to guess what is happening. We need more info.
The File Avast! Scans And Stops Working Is From What I See Is “C:\Windows\SysWOW64\guard32.dll”
And If I Try To Do Any Scan The avast! Service (Avastsvc.exe) stops Works And Locks The GUI Up
Sounds like the Comodo Dragon from the Comodo firewall and avast! aren’t getting along.
Which version of avast!5 are you using and what parts of Comodo are installed on your system ???
np here (sig modified ;D) … the OP might be running CAV too, or has CIS 4 sandbox enabled… not recommended for everyone unless you know what you’re doing. It (CIS sandbox) has functions that Avast sandboxing doesn’t have…can break a system if not careful …and these dudes at Comodo enable it by default : may be off topic here…until the OP gives more precisions…
+1
More info needed to help…
Hi, i have the same problem, i think it’s the File Shield
it used to happen often even when i wasn’t copying files or web browsing, if clicked on a folder it seemed like avast was scanning all its content, so i disabled “scan files at the opening” now it’s better but “scan files at the saving” stills checked and in its settings i checked “scan all types of files”. Maybe the problem comes from this last setting?
yersteday i created a 700mb iso file and after that Avastsvc.exe prevented me from using my computer for more than 1 hour!!
i don’t want to stop File Shield (of course ), how can i limit the the % of cpu use?
sorry for my bad english.

Exactly…!
I would only use this option on an infected system.

Ok, i try: “scan files at the opening” and “scan files at the saving” checked
“scan all types of files” unchecked for both
i’ll tell you
Thanks
