Hi,
recently (past 3 weeks), I am experiencing high CPU usage every 10 minutes from AvastUI.exe.
using Avast on Windows 10 x64, with the latest update from Avast.
I used Window’s perfmon to check AvastUI.exe every 5 seconds, and I see that every 10 minutes, the process’s CPU usage rises to about 15%.
not sure how to upload a .csv file that perfmon creates, so I used pastebin: https://pastebin.com/MPMZRZ9q
you can see that AvastUI spikes every 10 minutes (19:48:27.304, 19:58:27.295,…)
I tried looking at the logs that Avast produces, but can’t understand much.
can anyone help me understand what’s going on?

You can only post text formats, .txt and .log to the forum.
How long do these spikes last (as the AvastUI.exe process isn’t security related) ?

thanks for the quick response!
I changed the perfmon sampling to every second, to answer your question.
this is the result around the spikes (which seem to occur at xx:x8:26):
11:08:25 9.415993469
11:08:26 62.95382646
11:08:27 3.119925441
11:08:31 1.561615657
11:08:32 1.56709315
11:08:37 1.570946982
11:08:41 1.567829995
11:08:43 1.571018218
11:18:25 10.99221706
11:18:26 52.24563286
11:18:40 1.56836002
11:19:43 4.737751913
11:28:25 10.98060657
11:28:26 54.57301673
11:28:27 3.144595231
it seems like 3+ seconds, and ~50% CPU usage (unlike what I previously thought)
should I bring additional logs from Avast dir?

I don’t know if the logs in themselves are very detailed, but this really needs an Avast Team member to assist.
As an avast user and not having experienced this spike, though with my computer usage (and system) I might not notice this.
You could try to - Generate a support package https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article/Submit-support-file/ . Posting the File ID here.
In the meantime I will try to attract some attention to the topic.

You’re welcome.
I and another forum helper (bob31) have reported this, so hopefully an Avast Team member can pick up on this topic.

Hi,
Please follow this guide and submit a performance recording. https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article/Antivirus-Performance-recording-FAQ/#idt_030

thanks for the reply.
I just did as requested.
I am experiencing this exact same problem. Every 10 minutes to the second AvastUI.exe causes a CPU usage spike.
Has this issue ever been fixed or has anyone found a solution.
I’ve removed every part of the program that isn’t essential. Leaving only the File, Web and Behavior shield along with Do Not Disturb mode.
