average number of updates to virus database per day?

Hey there Avast crew. first, let me say that while ive used avast for nearly 3 years now, and have reccomended the product to many people and 2 bussinesses. i do have one question about my personal pc…

is it normal to get 3-10 updates per day on the virus database? over the last 2 weeks i have gotten one on bootup, and 1 about every 2-3 hours throughout the day.

if this is the way it is supposed too be, then my hat is off too you guys for staying so much on top of things as they happen. if this is not how things are supposed too be going, is it possible that my database keeps getting infected by ‘something’ that makes it fail the update checksum?

There is no average, updates are released as and when required and ready. The avast auto update checks for updates first when you connect to the internet and every four hours after that if you remain connected. If there is an update available it will be downloaded, so you may just be seeing the update check.

I have on occasions had as many as 5 updates in a day, but that is unusual.
