AVG and Avast! ???

Holy Smoke! I just realized from some surfing that there’s two company’s involvled in present mess I’m trying to solve. HELP

There Grisoft’s AVG free and it’s 4.7 Pro versions.

Then there’s Awil’s Avast! free version and it’s 4.7 Pro.

Are these the same or what?

No, They are not the same.

AVG is currently at version 7.1

Thanks for your quick respinse. Is there a removal tool available to get rid of the AVG items that were not eliminated when I used Add/Remove? It is interfering with my new Awil 4.7 pro.

I don’t think so… anyway, you can ask at the Grisoft webpage (or forum).
You can backup your Windows Registry (ERUNT is a very good tool), then remove the keys that match ‘Grisoft’ keyword. You can search for ‘AVG’ keyword, but take tare… many of them are not from AVG antivirus.

I found this:

Download the latest installation file of AVG from Downloads-Programs

After downloading, run this file and choose the Uninstall Product option in the Select Setup Type dialog.

Finish the uninstall process.


Since I don’t use avg, I haven’t tried it however, maybe it will help you.
