AVG..........vs...............Avira...............vs..............Avast

i’ve AVG at the moment and i’ve heard Avira is quite good…while my friend suggested Avast…

so which one should i choose ?

will Avira and Avast provide virus scanning for downloaded pictures, videos and other files ?

anyone minds deleting that thread ???

@the OP: it’s a not a chat playground here ::slight_smile:

avast! of course. ;D

what do you mean delete my thread…i’m asking a perfectly honest question here !

i’m trying to get feedback from experienced pc users to decide on the best anti-virus for me.

Going to avast! forums and asking whether you should choose Avira or AVG makes zero sense. Wrt AV choice - do your own decision based on your needs.

+1 on closing this thread.

seriously ?

i’m not quite happy with AVG but since it’s free, it’s okay…

my friend suggested that avast is the best so far…while on another forum, someone told me to try Avira… ???

well, i’m hoping some HELPFUL + HONEST user that may have used AVG and Avira before can tell me if Avast is better at detecting viruses. ::slight_smile:

Avira: good detection rate. Poor updates, extremely annoying popups, miss a lot of configurations.
AVG: bad update scheme, poor configurability.

avast

exactly, it depends who you ask. And what answer do you expect when asking in avast forum ;)

Add horrible support to that - vendor tech support absolutely not communicating, web forum unusable due to “antispam” measures, moderators playing a scratched record strategy. :-X

anyway, many thanks to all those that gave good advice…

i’ll uninstall AVG and give Avast a try…

Good choice…!

AVG Remover can be downloaded here: http://www.avg.com/download-tools

you mean i need the AVG Remover to uninstall it ?

how about if i go to my pc’s Control Panel and uninstall it from there…it’ll work the same, right ?

Note: Typical uninstallation from the Control Panel in Windows can be insufficient in some cases. Some records may still remain in the system and prevent avast! from being correctly installed. Most vendors offer special removal tools to uninstall their antivirus software completely from the system. If there is mentioned an option to use removal tool in the instructions linked above, we recommend to use it for proceeding with the uninstallation.

thanks a lot !

sigh…i used to have Norton and Microsoft Security Essentials too…so i need to get removers for them from the respective vendors ?

i had AVG at the same time…so i was running 3 anti-virus at the same time ! ;D

no wonder my pc got slower and slower…i thought the more anti-virus, the better… ;D

Well, wrong.
But now you know better.
