I recently had a problem where AVG was ripped out my computer along with other programs including chrome, part of my graphics package, open office, the software for my phone and a few other things. I did uninstall what appeared to be a zynga toolbar (which may have been real but my memory fails me), but I didn’t delete anything else so I came to the conclusion that my comp was a little on the sick side.
I went searching for a better av since AVG evidently wasn’t doing its job and found avast.
I’ve done multiple scans and deleted all the viruses found, which were all in files in the ass end of my comp that I had forgotten about. Finally it scanned clear when I ran a scan on everything I could.
Now it’s just returned results on my scheduled scan, it’s in memory blocks but it’s a process I believe is linked to AVG (which isn’t running and the folders for it are all empty) avgcsrva.exe. When I looked it up on google I found that the exe file usually resides in windows folder, so I had a look but I can’t see it there.
Is it just avast pointing fingers at another av or could it be the last of whatever caused the forced deletions in the first place? I’d like to work out how to remove it either way but I’m at a loss atm.
I done a search of the reg for it and found one mention but don’t want to delete reg things willy nilly
Running - more than one - antivirus program is not recommended because:
[*]They can conflict with each other.
[*]Report the other antivirus software as malicious.
[*]Antivirus programs use an enormous amount of computer’s resources… actively scanning your computer.
[*]Can cause your computer to become unstable…run slowly and even, in rare cases, BSOD crash…etc
I strongly suggest you uninstall one of them.
(I personally recommend to remove avg)
If you remove AVG Antivirus: http://www.avg.com/ww-en/utilities
-download avg uninstaller from here and run the tool to remove any leftovers.
If you deside to remove avast antivirus: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility
-download avast uninstaller from here and run the tool to remove any leftovers.
…and issues shuld be resolved.
About toolbar:
[]Download AdwCleaner (by Xplode) on your desktop.
[*]Launch it, click on [Search] and wait for the scan.
[]When the scan ends, notepad with the report will appears.
[*] Click on the [Delete] Wait for the programme completes his work. The program will close all active programs. Click OK to confirm that.
On the next two windows that open ( Informations and Restart required ) click OK
[] The computer will restart and open a notepad ( C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt ) with the report.
[] Save the notepad report on the Desktop
Hey Thanks for the reply
As I said in my first post AVG was ripped out of my system along with a bunch of other stuff. So the main folders were all gone, there’s only dregs left.
I’ve ran the remover you linked me to and I’ll do another scan to see if that fixed it. Hopefully it has since I’ve got plenty more repairs to be done.
I installed Avast to help stop more things getting messed up and now I’m just working through the clean up part of it
Thanks again, now to fight with my graphics card programs
