I am using window 98 and everytime i start my computer it said that i am mssing the file C:\PROGRA~1\AVPERS~1\AVGUARD.VXD and i read on a different site that is has something to do with the avast can anyone help me?!~~

this is not from avast, but from
AntiVirPersonalEdition (AVPE): www.free-av.de
→ either uninstall AVPE (or clean out the said folder and do a RegClean) and then install avast,
or properly uninstall & reinstall AVPE
what do u mean by a reg clean?
Use a Registry Cleaner application.
You can Google for freeware ones. You can click on ‘Links’ in my signature.
But, you can try to install avast just uninstalling AntiVir first and booting before installing avast. Try to see if it works 8)
