AW SNAP error on Chrome browser!

Just over a fortnight ago, I began to get the AW SNAP error on my Chrome browser after only 10 mins of pc inactivity. Not a single one of the suggested remedies/fixes worked. Then it was suggested the culprit could well be my Antivirus settings. I had definitely not changed any settings in either Avast or Chrome. Neither had I received AW SNAP in the past 10 years or more. What I HAD recently noticed, however, were frequent interruptions to my pc activity from Avast itself, despite the fact I have my settings checked to prevent pop-up notifications and prompts! I returned to my settings a couple of days ago and unchecked any likely culprits which could possibly cause any conflicts with Chrome. So far, the AW SNAP errors have ceased BUT, having left my pc inactive for some 30 mins (about an hour ago) I returned to find my browser had been totally shut down, and the Avast icon reinstalled in my shortcuts to the left of my screen! I do NOT want or need this here! It already sits on my taskbar!!! Why is Avast suddenly behaving like an intrusive virus in itself?
