- Today I’ve made the big step forward. I uninstalled AVIRA PERSONAL EDITION to install the latest edition of AVAST FREE 5.0 from scratch. Psychologically, I feel like walking with socks with AVIRA PERSONAL while walking with shoes with AVAST FREE and all its features. Then consider that to get them with AVIRA PREMIUM you have to pay extra fee. Then I’m not into dangerous surfing and I do not need as much of AVIRA detection. I didn’t felt to much annoyed by FP with AVIRA though. I’ve been since JUNE with them. AVAST 5 BETA was too buggy until now. The install is a pure success. Everything is fine, I registered, updated, scanned. I even tested my bandwith speed:with the Web shield ON I get 4.31 Mb/s download and 0.75 Mb/s upload on high speed internet (CABLE) while with Web shield OFF I have a super fast connection at 7.1 Mb/s for download and 0.78 Mb/s for upload (what I was getting in fact with AVIRA PERSONAL installed)! Well, do you like to be infected for the pleasure to go fast??? I certify you that at 4.3 Mb/s my FF web page loads as fast as ever, I can’t notice. My only hope is that the protection is effective. So keep improving ALWIL and cheers to VLK, you convinced me back!
N.B.: There so much people having trouble with AVAST 5 but people having no problem at all usually don’t post so I really think that reading this forum nowadays is misleading into thinking the AV is really buggy. It’s not but it needs to be refined and checked, not as bad as older version 4.8 ;D
Must say I also uninstalled Microsoft Security Essentials as there can only be ONE AV on a PC, be it ON DEMAND or ON ACCESS. For those who wants other advices go on scanners online services. I also have only one ON ACCESS Antispyware installed but many ON DEMAND AS available.
