I am interesting in trying Avast AV,i heard so many good oppinions about it.
Can avast home back-up antivirus bases,and restore it,after windows crash or re-installing win ?

I do it by myself: I just copy “400.vps” from C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA and copy all files from C:\Program Files\Safe\Avast4\Setup.
When I reinstall Windows after crash I just replace “400.vps” and folder “Setup” from backuped. Then I need to update avast!, but it takes something about 2-3 seconds.

Indeed you’ll mess your avast installation, avoiding further updates doing so…
To update off-line, use, http://files.avast.com/iavs4pro/vpsupd.exe
With windows crashes… well avast installation would be there ok.
Re-installing windows? Well, save avast4.ini and avast4.md files and the skin subdirectory… nothing more…
There’s no avast4.md file on my PC.
Why there is database 2 days old… ? I perform update,and it ended sucesfull,and there’s still 2 days old database ?
There is false positive alarm about ram saver pro,app that I use for almost 2 year.

But are you really sure it’s a false positive? Did you submit the file to VirusTotal or Jotti?
I am sure 100% try for yourself about ram saver pro,file “moncpu” is trojan,but 100% it is not,my previous AV software never said it is a trojan.
And AVAST is,or it just seems to me,not so good in scanning "install’ files,so install for RSP is clean.
I did not submit file,it is an ordinary,app file.And you’re right,it’s a shame.
Okay,there is avast4.db file,but avast4.md,not 
Shame for update …,today works fine :o)
Avast found a 4 false positive files…
I uninstall it.

No software is perfect… but avast is almost there…
If 4 false positives let you give up, so you don’t deserve us 
Unfortunately FPs are a fact of life in all AVs, whilst you do appear to have suffered a high number in a relatively short time, I think I have had two in over two and a half years. At least were able to recognise them as such and by giving up so easily doesn’t help you or other avast users.
avast is probably the most configurable and flexible AV I have ever used, is it perfect, no, but it is still a very good AV and to abandon it in such a short time I feel is premature, I fear you will have much disappointment finding the perfect AV. Good luck in your quest.

I did not want to scan more,it found 4 files,and then I give up.
I found some other AV sollution (zero false positive),but I don’t want to mention about it,it would be offtopic and rude.
My previous AV also was zero false positive,but wasn’t free.

False positive was in some files that I find not comfortable to mention on this forum.And 4 was too much,in my oppinion.
I didn’t know that there are so much unpolite members here,I just had to silently leave forum,without telling everybody about FP.

You have few antivirus solutions for free. Right now, you can use Active Scan or AVG.
Both have false positives in the past, and will have in the future if the detection rate improves.
From time to time, detection rates of AVG are smaller than from avast.
No this is not an unpolite forum. But on this forum there isn’t indeference, cold reception.
A lot of users want to know why have you give up and try to help.
By the way, when you need support for other antivirus for free… you’ll remember where you got it.
No other antivirus (for free) has a forum as much active and friendship like avast.

Giving up just for some fp is rude Nah, just kidding, but I don’t understand why you jump the ship so easy…just because some fp’s? Why not help avast with sending in the fp and they will fix it in a upcomming update? Helping avast and still continue use this great antivirus-program sounds like the best solution…
Anyway, good luck with your new antivirusprogram, I am sure you will have fp with that program also in the future, maybe you will came back here then You are always welcome back here!

I prefer zero FP.Allthough daily update in my new AV is around 300 kb,it does not matter to me.

I am sure you will have fp with that program also in the future,I hope not,becouse it is made of one paid-av,that I worked for two years,and it find me one file(actually two),that i called mistake,not FP.
I hope that core isn’t gone bad.And if that AV someday become non-free…
