I am using aVast Internet Security 11.2.2262
Windows Vista
I am unable to back up my settings. The error message says “Error while exporting settings. Access is denied.”
I have been having this problem for awhile. I keep losing my custom scan settings on a routine basis and someone suggested backing them up so I don’t have to keep on creating new scans. I’ve tried all the things suggested so far: repairing aVast, backing up to somewhere other than the default location, checked my BIOS to be sure my clock settings are correct, among others.
Thanks for your response. That IS the error, and I am not on a 64-bit system. How do I report it? And is there anything I can do about it? Furthermore, where do I get help to fix the problem that caused me to want to back up my settings? I keep losing my custom scan settings.
Thanks David. When I unchecked it, I got a warning message: “The self defense provides very important protection against active malware; without it, undetected malware can deactivate, or even remove the antivirus program!”
Doesn’t sound like a good idea, does it? Even if I unchecked it for the seconds it would take to save my back-up?
The message isn’t exactly correct.
It should be “The self… protect avast from malware”
It is perfectly ok to disable it, backup the settings and enable it again.
