I desperately need to restore an Outlook file from yesterday.
It won’t restore, I’ve tried restoring from within the ‘dash board’ and it has just been stuck on ‘connecting to backup service’ for over an hour. I’d previously rebooted because it was stuck - no change, still stuck
Can anyone help?
I’ve just recently paid for this service and this is the first time I’ve had to use it and … well …
Oh I wish I could show you my screen - it would make it so much easier.
Anyway, I’ll try.
I clicked on the avast icon in my tray, it opens a dialogue box saying 'avast! BackUp - Status, this tells me when the last back up was carried out and when the next one will be.
At the bottom of this box there are two buttons, one says ‘Restore Files’ the other ‘Settings’
I click on Restore Files and it opens a ‘dashboard’ which shows my system files and has tabs along the top, as follows:
Welcome | Backup Sets | File System | Options | History | Restore
I’ve chosen the date and file I want restoring - but it just sits there saying ‘Connecting to backup service…’
I can’t even get to speak with anyone at avast! Why oh why do these companies take your money then disappear when you need to get hold of them!
*ranting
To see if the problem is related to avast I advise to turn it off for 10 minutes.
You can right-click on the orange a-ball icon in system tray and from the menu select AVAST! SHIELDS CONTROL → DISABLE… Later you can enable it the same way.
I’m posting this reply in case anyone else gets stuck like I did.
