Does the Linux Home Edition version 1.08 support background scanning ( On Access like in the Windows version) ? . If so, how can i check if it is running.

No it doesn’t.
On access scanning is far less important in Linux, as most (all?) of the viruses you’re going to come across are Windows viruses.
