I recently downloaded the trial 60 days avast! PDA to install and run on my Palm OS 4 device, everything installed fine except when connected to Internet through GPRS connection to download latest virus pattern, Internet connection established but “Bad File Format” appears so I could not update the virus database. Any idea?
I then installed the trial 60 days avast! PDA (with Windows Updater) and installed the file. During setup, it prompts for “License Key” which I clicked “DEMO” but program keeps prompting me for License Key. After 2 times “Cancel” button the program managed to run but when I clicked “update now”, error messages appeared as “Current License Key does not allow updating” but there is no license key installed (even demo key does not appear), fields empty!
Same problem on a Palm Tungsten T3 - Installed the trial 60 days avast!
Also no option to update via GPRS - is this because I am running the trial and will this option become available if I purchase?
And no option to view scan log as advertised.
No information about virus signature files - what does avast! look for please?
Unclear whether avast! runs in background and checks apps as they launch, although I think some forum correspondence indicates this is the case.
You know, it wouldn’t hurt to have a manual or readme file available for new users explaining some of this - you might convert more trials to sales.
Anyone found a solution for this problem ?
I have the same problem too.
I’ve just bought Avast! 4 PDA Edition for 3 years.
Windows installer did not work, my License Key always rejected
because the last character of the License Key can not be entered
on the License Key windows.
Manual installation (using prc and pdb files) is working,
but always shows “Bad file format” everytime I try to update.
Currently I’m using Avast! antivirus for Palm, Version 4.3,
on Treo 650.
I hope someone from Avast can give solution to this problem.
I have exactly the same problem… If this is supposed to be the evaluation demo, then not much of an evaluation without seeing the full functionality. I am suprised that nobody from Avast has replied to this post.
I have the same problem with my Treo 650. I have also tried to enter the license key I bought into the windows Avast! PDA edition updater and still have the same problem. It appears this has gone several months with out an answer what is going on?
The program runs and scans fine, but when I click “Update” it says the key is invalid and hangs the program. I honestly don’t even know if it’s updating at all.
