Being an Avast user for years, I am now wondering if I made a mistake purchasing the Internet Security Suite. Since I live in the mountains and can only get internet service via Hughesnet satellite, I am limited in the amount of bandwidth I use per day (425MB). This is normally more than I need unless I want to download a game, which means I then must purchase “tokens” for $10 per 425MB. Since installing the new Security Suite, I have watched my monitoring meter slowly show something eating up my bandwidth usage so that every day I use up my entire 425MB without downloading ANYTHING. So, I started to monitor my “cookies” and find that Avast is listed multiple times every hour. I shut off the auto updates (which usually mean the program stops working altogether several times a day), but I still see the meter show something using up the allotment. Does anyone else have a similar issue?
If you’re seeing avast Web Shield scanning… well, it’s not avast the “culprit” but anything else. avast just scans.
Which firewall do you use? You can block even avastUI.exe to connect if you want. The updates requires avast*.setup and avastSvc.exe to connect.
