Bank Mode sometimes does not display the bottom bar

When I enter Bank Mode, the bottoim bar sometimes fails to appear. I can do the business with my bank account but cannot use the red CLOSE button because it isn’t displayed in the absence of the bottom bar.

It is impossible to exit Secure Browser normally. The screen goes black and I have to use Ctrl-Alt-Delete to allow me to logout. Logging out and logging again can result in Secure Browser working normally or not. The behaviour of Secure Browser is inconsistent. This problem seem only to affect on of my Windows 10 systems. It has not occurred on the others (yet).

Reinstalling Secure Browser can ease things for a few sessions but the problem always returns.

Another detail: When I first installed Secure Browser on the problem Windows 10 system, the icon for the New Tab button in the bottom bar would not show.

Sorry I cannot provide more information. I am bewildered by the inconsistency of the behaviour that I am reporting. Changing Secure Browser settings does not solve anything. I have no idea what settings might be in error.

Hello,

thank you for reporting the issue and sorry for the inconvenience with the Bank Mode.

I will look into it and get back to you.

Josef

BTW, if you are in BM, you can close the window by a keyboard shortcut CTRL+F4.

Hello again,

could you please also provide us with the diagnostic information (Settings icon at the top-right > Help and About Avast Secure Browser > About Avast Secure Browser > Diagnostic Information) so we can understand the scope of the issue as I still was not able to reproduce this on my machine.

Josef

I have already reinstalled Secure Browser with different use of settings. My first attempts probably caused the issue. I guess that I was trying to be too clever.

N.B. I have added two extensions. This issue predates the installation of these extensions.[/b]

This problem seems to occur on ONE particular computer (I have several Windows 10 devices).

I have removed Avast Secure Browser from this device as its behaviour has deteriorated. I noticed that the icon in the bottom bar of Bank Mode had changed from blank to the Firefox icon and clicking it caused Firefox to open. Something is not right with secure browser. All I have done is to install it and then change the browser settings to suit my requirements. I shall use Firefox ESR instead for my banking.

Hello,
with last AV release there’s this problem with other browsers that slipped our attention, sorry for this. We’re on it.
If you’re using Free Antivirus I would advise to proceed using Avast browser.
Sorry for inconveniences caused!
