Battery drain on Note 2 due to ecessive kernel wakelocks

Hi,

I am experiencing heavy battery drain on my Note 2 since the last update. BetterBatteryStats shows really high values for partial wakelocks of AMS. I don’t know if it’s a problem specifically on the Note 2 (as AMS on my wife’s SGS3 as well as on my coworker’s Note 2 LTE works quite fine) or interference with another app. Is there a way to drill down the source of the problem any further? (e.g. logfiles, debug version, verbosity level setting, etc.) I have disabled the setting for cpu-keepalive and reinstalled AMS cleanly. All to no avail so far… Help is much appreciated…

is it really a wakelock issue? If so, do you think you can wait till Thursday so I can check it? Because even though I’m trying really hard to remember, I don’t think there is another wakelock apart from the one that can be turned off in the Settings.

I think it is in fact a wakelock issue (see attached screenshot). Of course I can wait till thursday. Do you want me to collect any data for you (e.g. send specific files, install and run apps and attach the results)?

Hmm, I don’t think any logs are needed just yet :slight_smile: You said you tried to reboot the device even after you disabled the wakelock in Settings, right?

Yes, I (at least indirectly) did. I am “living” with this problem for about 3 weeks with several reeboots inbetween. Just did not have any spare time to do something about it until now. BTW: If I turn cpu-keepalive back on, battery seems to drain even faster…

OK, can you try disabling some features for me? Specifically I mean Firewall and Network Meter if you have them enabled. Also do you have your AMS installation connected to avast! Account? If so, how often is the status reported? It’s in the Settings as well.

Already did that yesterday. The problem vanished when I disabled the file system shield (“Shield Control/Dateisystem-Schutz” in my german menu).

I finally suceeded to submit a Ticket with the logs (did not work serveral times, experienced this before →
may be another glitch in AMS)

I have installed the update of last saturday and my problem is GONE. No high wakelock count an more → no battery drain. Thank you for the quick solution. You all at Avast do a really great job!
