hi!
some time ago i had a worm (i think it was win32:malware-gen) that should have been removed completely but when i try to access to avast homepage (or any other antivirus pages) it says it doesn’t exist or i’m connected to google.
for the same reason i cannot register my avast product.
HOSTS file redirect a common malware tactic to block AV sites making it difficult to remove malware - 127.0.0.1 check your HOSTS file using notepad or a text editor of your choice, C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts or do a search for HOSTS to find it if not there.
If you haven’t already got this software (freeware), download, install, update and run it and report the findings (it should product a log file).
MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, On-Demand only in free version http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/malwarebytes/mbam-setup.exe, right click on the link and select Save As or Save File (As depending on your browser), save it to a location where you can find it easily later. - 2. SUPERantispyware On-Demand only in free version.
Don’t worry about reported tracking cookies they are a minor issue and not one of security, allow SAS to deal with them though. - See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP_cookie.
Well avast can detect conficker but hasn’t done so only malware-gen and if the OS is up to date isn’t vulnerable (though OS and update state would need to be confirmed).
i checked the hosts and removed all the hosts except the local host (127.0.0.1), i also ran avast on the local host and there weren’t any threats found.
i’ll download the programmes you suggested to see if they find sth and i’ll let you know tomorrow if the problem is solved or not, ok?
