Behaviour shield turns off

I run AVAST free 17.3.2291 (build 17.3.3443.0) on Windows 7, and now and then when booting up Windows the Behaviour shield is turned off. The Avast icon shows an exclamation mark, and when I open Avast it shows the message “You’re vulnerable Some shield are turned off”. I turn on the Behavior Shield and everything is back to normal. This has happend to me maybe 4 or 5 times in the latest two months.

Anyone who recognize this behaviour or know how to fix it?

Perform a repair of avast and check if it solved the problem.
If not perform a clean installation of the latest avast version and check again.

This is a known problem. Avast is aware of the problem. It should be fixed when the next version is released.

Hi,
I and Everyone I know that uses Avast Free AV has this problem with the shields collapsing and having to be reset repeatedly! Please Avast needs to urgently sort this problem!!

As noted, Avast is aware of the problem and said that it would be fixed with release 17.6.

Win XP Pro Service Pack 3
Avast AV Free Ver. 17.5.2303

Sheilds are dropping about every 5 minutes. I would not notice except for the fact that when they do drop, my browser (Firefox 52.2.1) becomes unresponsive. As soon as shields are rebooted the connection is restored.

I suggest you start your own topic since this is strictly about the Behaviour Shield which is already known by Avast.

Dear all, I have the current version [just did a check run] of 17.5.2303 (build 17.5.3585.203) and I have also occasional ‘Shield’ dropouts.
This does not give me confidence in using my laptop. Can Avast provide us with any updates?

Hi, it’s already fixed in the beta (V17.6).

Do you know when 17.6 is released?

The short answer is always going to be a NO, it all depends on how the beta testing progresses.

Just want to report that I still have the same problem as above with the Behaviour shield after updating to version 17.6.2310. Seems like this is not fixed…

The fix seems to be dependent on which Windows OS, drivers and third party software is running. I have 3 Win 7 Pro laptops(different brands) and only one has this issue. The other 2 have never had this issue, even with earlier versions of Avast. See https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=208223.

I’ve even used the Avastclear utility to completely remove Avast, restarted, and downloaded the latest program version (17.7.2314), and it’s STILL doing this. I love Avast, and it’s the only anti-virus I’ve used for the last 10 years. But this is becoming worrysome.

Follow the link in Reply #12 and provide your logs.

This problem started for me only the last two month but I see it is an older bug, still not fixed.
I am using Avast internet security (paid), with windows 7 pro, also for more than 10 years. When can we expect a fix?

Hi all,

we are looking for a volunteer with this problem who is willing to share with us performance log from the system. The best match for the volunteer is that the shield is off every time you reboot/start the system.

So far we can see that the problem of the start is not connected to the shield itself (it tries to run but the system is not responsive as in our environment). Therefore we cannot fix the issue (if it’s in the Avast code base) w/o your help.

To maia225: we can fix only issue if we can recreate it on our systems. Unfortunately this is not the case with this issue.

Thanks for cooperation,
PDI

I spent hrs. with Lucas sending many logs, etc. Never solved the problem while I used the Regular Avast release.
I wen’t back to the current beta and no longer have the problem.
Don’t know what the difference is but if I use the regular (stable) release, Behavior Shield is off after you reboot the system.
When I use the beta, as I am now, All shields are on when the system starts. ??? ??? ???
