I buy into a couple of comments made by YoKenny: that no browser is safe and it how to use a browser safely if I paraphrased that correctly.
I have been using IE for a long long long time and IE8 now on both Computers and to date have never been exploited. Mainly due to responsible browsing and a solid layered security configuration

I agree that your choice of browser is subjective and that no browser is 100% safe. I’m also a firm believer in a layered approach to security configuration as you can see from my Signature.
