AOS panel in Firefox 26 looks like it has a bit missing, and the white area is being cut off.
Applies regardless of amount of zoom on 1920 x 1080 (native) monitor.
Thanks Bob and David,
As it was still not right on my PC, I shut down malewarebytes completely (so it doesn’t start with Windows), rebooted, did the full uninstall of Avast, cleanout (Avastclear.exe and RajZor’s Cleanup), reboot, Clean install of 2014.9.0.2012
Had some difficulty getting AvastClear to work - would ask to run in safe mode, reboot but then ask to run in safe mode again, reboot, ask to run in safemode. Resolved by turning off Avast self protection.
New installation has all default ex factory settings, and has the same two problems as I’ve reported previously, the missing bit at the top of the Firefox AOS panel (best demonstrated at http://www.asx.com.au), and the lack of any ticks (web rep) anywhere. I’ve also just noticed that it thinks no one is trying to track me at all, regardless of how many sites I visit, so I suspect that doesn’t work either.
It’s 1:43am so I’ll leave this at the moment and reinstall 2014.9.0.2011 again and see what that does. The web rep and anti-tracking used to work, and I don’t think I had the missing bit in the panel, but I haven’t had AOS installed for while, so worth a recheck.
In a way that is good news. I’m for the moment back on 2014.9.0.2011 and my green web-rep ticks are working and the AOS extension in Firefox 26 is back showing I’m being tracked. It also correctly shows no tick in Safe Zone which I don’t have, where as 2014.9.0.2012 showed it ticked by greyed out.
However 2014.9.0.2011 still has the missing top right corner of the AOS panel on http://www.asx.com.au, so that is not something that’s been introduced in the beta.
I don’t know the extent of formatting (css, etc.) on that page as potentially the two could clash. If it were truly an issue only of AOS I would expect to see this malformation on all sites if you open the AOS setting screen.
So are you getting this on all/multiple/just this site/s ?
In normal use I don’t have AOS installed, however I did for the beta.
On the initial install of 2014.9.0.2012 I thought it was present on more than one site but the only one I specifically took notice of was the stock exchange site. On most sites the panel was complete.
After the reinstall of 2014.9.0.2012 I only saw it on that one site, and as I said, now I’m back on 2014.9.0.2011 it is still there on that particular site, but I haven’t seen it on any others so far.
Given that I can’t nominate any other site where it is occurring at the moment, it isn’t of much concern. I was far more concerned with not getting any green web-rep ticks, and with no tracking being shown anywhere, and particularly on sites where I know it was previously. Both these issues are not occurring with 2014.9.0.2011.
I can confirm it occurs on http://www.asx.com.au with AOS 9.0.2014.77 (Avast! Internet beta 2014.9.0.2014), Firefox 27.0.1. Other Firefox add-ons include AdBlock Plus 2.5.1 (filters: “EasyList” and “Malware Domains”), Hostname in Titlebar 2.0.2, Tweak Network 1.8, Web Of Trust 20131118. This is on Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (64-bit).
The AOS slide-out panel displays normally on other websites I frequent.
Addendum: disabling AdBlock Plus for site http://www.asx.com.au and reloading the page still shows the cutoff of the AOS slide-out panel.
I had turned that off in the production release since it prevented me from viewing videos on www.weather.com and on reinstall with the beta I turned it off long before visiting http://www.asx.com.au/ (and it’s still off).
