Hi everyone,

I`m glad to announce that new beta version is ready - 20.5.2411 (build 20.5.5366).

What’s new
Introducing Remote Access Shield - This new feature lets you choose who can remotely access your computer and lets you block the rest. (Premium Security users only)
Ransomware Shield is now free - We’re now offering this feature to Avast Free Antivirus users to maximize their ransomware protection
Better USB drive protection - We’ll now ask you to scan USB drives when you plug them into your computer. (You can also turn this off in your notification settings)
Improved taskbar icon - There’s no need to keep your antivirus open during scans. You can now see your scan progress from the Avast taskbar icon
Google QUIC protocol support added to Webshield - It can affect anything from the “google ecosystem” so please let us know in case of any issues with e.g. Chrome, Opera, MS Edge, Drive, Calendar, Youtube…

What was fixed
Based on the customers feedbak we changed the design of buttons in bank mode

Known issues
Rescue disc cannot be created in some cases

Isn’t this related to a setting in Windows 10 to deny remote access ?

Whilst the win10 Home version doesn’t support Remote Desktop (mine doesn’t) - so do win10 Home users (or those that have disabled this in supported win10 systems) really need this ?

Ransomware Shield is now free
Nice move but need more customise options like old menu. Really missing it... please avast team bring back.

The beta is running smooth here - no noticeable issues (so far).

PS: Some translations are missing, but since that are new features, I’ll wait for beta #3 to list them (if still needed).

BTW what settings do you miss? IMO not all but most of the useful settings are still available in current GUI.

Mostly In File Shield section adding Scanning while opening file format extension manually like .bat,.vbs,.js.

There’s already an option to add your own file types.

Since the update, I am having trouble playing videos on YouTube, probably related to the QUIC update. It gives a playback error, and then after 5-10 seconds it will play. It does this for every new video I try to play.

Ransomware Shield in free version is a very nice addition. Someone was mentioning some extra Botnet protection in Web Shield in the changelog for the current stable version. How is with that one? Is it already in this version?
