Is it a virus? Does anyone know?

Have you done a google search for the file name ?
A google search returns no hits which in itself is suspicious.

What makes you think it is a virus ?
Where was it found example (C:\windows\system32\infected-file-name.xxx) ?

I found it in Windows\Temp - it’s an exe and runs at startup
I installed several new services (a new printer, etc) so I can’t be sure. It’s normal for a “healthy” process to be saved in the Temp to run?

No it is not. You either have a trojan or some severe malware. Run Ewido initially and see whether that gets rid of it…Or… I am training in HJT (about one third of the way through) pop one here and I’ll have a look

If it is a startup item, use windows start, run and type msconfig, check the startup tab and find the entry and untick it so it doesn’t start. That should give you some breathing space to investigate further.
