Now My question is simple i found a folder named avast4 in : C:\WINDOWS\Temp_avast4_\unp174934643 the file size is 2,219,520 KB over 2 Gigabytes why? Can i delete that file? It uses up space on my hard drive. Thanks in advance for your reply.

I recommend the you do a manual update your program to the latest version of avast 4.5 and check and see if that resolves the issue and get back to us if not.

Done, now version 4.5 after restart file still there. 2,11GB

What’s the extension of the file ? Anyway, I’m sure you can just erase it. It’s inside Windows/temporary folder. I have Windows/Temp/avast4 folder as well, but it’s completely empty…

EDIT: However, there is information from the first hand, from one of Alwil experts, PK. While I was editing this post, he already gave you an answer…

So, you’re clear to erase that file without any after effects.

Cheers !

The file was created by avast v4.1 - in the TEMP folder, and you can delete it (These files are created during unpacking). The packer library is now improved in v4.5 and we don’t allow to create such big files (or we’ll identify the file as a decompression bomb).

It as no extension, if i click proprieties it says archive. Thats all i can tell. And yes i removed the check mark in folder options at: Hide extensions for known file types.

See what PK just told you, and also my previous post…
