Biggest Problem in finding exact location of android device!

Hello Guys,

How are you.

I just installed this great piece of software and thanks to google market for finding me.

I am currently using Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 and i gave this avast app a real root permission and installed as device admin. I have a rooted phone and everything goes very well with setting up an anti theft but when i tried to locate my phone via sms with another phone. It provided me a near by location and not an exact location where i am staying.

I have already lost my phone 3 months back and i didn’t have any mobile theft app installed and now i don’t want to lose it again and thanks to avast and everyone who are telling that this is a best apps for your android security.

Please Help me avast support what am i doing here?

The accuracy is not high than the GPS satelites and/or the mobile tower systems. I’m on mobile now and can’t check the picture you’ve posted.

You mean locating a device would not be 100% accurate then what would be the use of this if we can’t track an exact location of a stealer?

I have checked it twice by sending a sms for locating a device and both of the time it sent me a same location url with same longitude and latitude.

Please check the pic i have posted above when you are on PC. I needed a good working anti theft for android and this was the one i found best of the best on market with 95% positive feedback.

Please help me with this.

You can never achieve a 100% accuracy. And you have sorrounding buildings, this could decrease the accuracy.

Is GPS/WiFi on? Open Google Maps and let us know where it says you are.

It’s a physical limitation, not avast one. You can blame all the GPS satellites and governments, you can blame wifi technology and all providers…

Hi,

I have uninstalled this apps so i could do fresh reinstallation and this time after setting up once again i tried to send a sms to locate my device and it provided me this google map url below which is different from the last one.

and voila it really caught my device with 100% accuracy.

I don’t know why it provided me a wrong location earlier when i got this url via sms.

Thanks guys and avast team. This is by far the best mobile security for any android device out there and it not only provide better security but it provides better theft protection.

looks like your first track only got a rough GSM location, second one contains actual GPS coordinates which is usually more accurate. you can see the source of the data (GPS, GSM, WiFi) in the SMS you get.

@reinhardholzner:- Thanks and yup you are 1000% right. First time when i installed the app and tried to locate it then i got the rough location and now i know why because it takes atleast 4-5 hours before it displays an actual location. I reinstalled and tried after 5-6 hours and got a real location of my device and till now i checked 4 times with 4 different location and it displayed an exact location of where my device was. Pretty awesome!!

Wow this app is totally free and has more features than what other are offering including paid ones. Avast is the no.1 security software for any android device. Those who says that it lags too much are not aware of doing a right step after installation and setting up. Just reboot the device after you set up an app and you won’t face any lag thing.

Just root the device if you want avast to work flawlessly on your android with full control on it. :slight_smile:
