Hi all,
My partner clicked on an executable link instead of a zip and accidentally installed some malware.
Avast started complaining (very often) about “Threat detected”.
Initially I only got warnings about URL:mal/blackfight.info and I tried removing it following some online guides, but the day after it was back
After a couple of days I also started getting warning about URL:mal/epictory.com >:(
Could somebody please help?
Thank you!

Attach malwarebytes and farbar recovery scan tool logs
Sorry, when posting the original message I press post before attaching the files. Then I attached them immediately but you were faster
This should stop the alerts
Re-install Chrome
Unless you did this yourself, malware has changed your Chrome version into the Development Build. Among other things this allows malware to install any extension it wants. We need to resolve this.
-
If you have bookmarks, let’s save them by exporting them - Export Bookmarks
-
Then I need you to go Google Sync and sign into your account
-
Scroll down until you see the “Stop and Clear” button and click on the button. At the prompt click on “Ok”
-
Now we need to uninstall chrome.
Note: When asked about user data or settings you must remove this also so please check the box.
-
Restart the computer and reinstall chrome, You can download The latest version from here - Google Chrome
-
Import your bookmarks back into Chrome
-
Sign back in to your Chrome browser so that your bookmarks sync with your online account.
THEN

On completion a log will be generated please post that
Done, excluding the google sync part as it was not enabled (my partner doesn’t use gmail or other things that require login).
For now I haven’t got any warnings.
Thank you very much!
If all is well tomorrow let me know and I will tidy up
I can confirm everything is fine! Thank you so much!
