Cant update due to error 0x8007007E, found a solution but requires me to scan my PC and replace all broken files and eventualy after that to reach the update page that you linked. The scan requires my original XP Professional CD and i cant find it…

essexboy will return on 9th june

Noticed his sig, but anyway i have no idea what to do :frowning:

See if the following is of any help:

http://www.askvg.com/microsoft-releases-patch-registration-cleanup-tool-to-fix-errors-while-updating-windows-installer-based-products/

says win32 doesnt support it

Which makes no sense.
Guess you’ll have to wait for essexboy.

Im afraid we went offtopic with those windows stuff.

I am not yet back where I can get to my system however could you run the windows repair as stated in this thread

At step 3 i must use my windows CD but i really dont know where is it…

OK skip that stage for now

Sorry for the late reply, work and stuff.

I have no idea what to do now, the problem is that windows update stays 24/7 on the Turn Off button.
The problem become offtopic, i think. I can move from here to a proper web if you wish.

Could you open windows updates please and let me know the KB number of the stuck update

Do you mean from microsoft.update? If yes, this pop [Error number: 0x8007007E]

http://www.updatexp.com/0x8007007E.html

Nice link Bob

Yes, very informative and also a very useful site, looks really fresh.

Did step 1 and 2, same error code reported.
Step 3 requires a disk…

Could you go to the windows updates page
Select Review your Update History
Locate the updates with the Failed notation
Then copy the KBnumber as shown on the attached
I can then try to determine the problem

Clicked to see history,
