Blocking an IP using the firewall

Is it possible? If so, how do I go about doing it?

can i ask why do you want to block that IP ?

I found a way to do it using the windows firewall, so I’m ok.

I’m blocking it because it supposedly throttles youtube. youtube has been getting more and more sluggish, so I spent the better part of a day looking for solutions. This came up, I wanted to test it. seems to have worked

ok

anyway, if there is anything you wonder about, try search the FAQ here. http://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB3

Yes it is possible, using Avast Firewall.

I blocked Avast’s website just to try it, and you can see from the images below, that it worked.

Oh, it was that simple? I feel like an idiot now lol. Thanks!

You shouldn’t feel like an idiot, I should.

I went back and checked, and the Firewall is only blocking outbound connections. It is stopping me from connecting to that IP address. I don’t know if it’s possible to block inbound connections, unless it is done using Applications Rules, and adding a new Application and creating rules for that application.

The problem is that the program must already exist on your computer in order to create rules for it.

If you’re using Chrome, it might be as simple as making a change in your settings which will help make YouTube more responsive:
