blog.avast.com script message

After opening blog.avast.com , have anyone seen the message shown in the attached picture ?

Anyone knows why is this happening? Is it related to some add-on? Is it related to https?

Any chance that it could be avoided (not the message itself, but the script(s) that trigger(s) it)?

nope…dont see it, but after page have loaded IE frees for 10-15 sek before i can start scrolling?
with Opera everything is fine

Nope, don’t see it either with firefox opens instantly, does go to https though.

Using IE8, I get the mixed content message first (image) and once acknowledged, the page opens instantly; though there was the time taken to do the image capture (not long), so I don’t know if all the page content is on hold until you acknowledge the pop-up or it loads in the background whilst waiting. So no delay fer me other than the mixed content pop-up.

You could always try it as we did and report you findings.

Well, I don’t know what to test now. I have the same delays in IE8 and also the https mixed question, and once I answer “yes” to the https security question, the page continues to load (still slow) and then the question I presented in the first post shows up.

Moreover, if I answer “yes” to stop loading the script, the question appears again, while the browser gets unresponsive. Waiting enough time it gets responsive again, but the question also appears again. So, it’s unusable in practice.

If I answer “no” to the script question, then the question doesn’t pop up again and the page continues to load, still slowly and it can even get unresponsive for a moment.

The bottom line is that I don’t know what triggers it in my system and why it gets unresponsive. Sure, having enough patience it will finally load and it gets to some “normal” usable state, but why ??? Which script is there so important to load a simple blog ???

My IE is setup to only allow the MS update site.
Don’t want to change all settings to just test this, sorry.

The website https://blog.avast.com/ loads without problems for me
using Google’s Chrome.
I do have a problem with the sub site where the full article resides:

It never seems to fully load.
After some time of waiting, I receive the following notice:

What I have noticed is the fact that on the bottom left corner it indicates:

Going directly to http://www.facebook.com/avast is no problem at all so it has to be a problem in the link of the original
website containing the full article.

I see that message on my XP Pro system and it is very annoying so I do not look at the avast blog on it any more.
There is no problem viewing the blog on my Windows 7 system.

OK, so it is not just my system and IE only (not that I’m happy about that; I’m just looking to narrow down the problem).

“Something” there in the blog pages is not that compatible with some configurations or combinations of softwares.

From the first responses here, I though that it may be something in my system, or in my IE (add-ons or something), but now Bob’s Chrome is also giving signals.

Maybe more reports are needed to pinpoint this issue (and probably someone with more knowledge about how that blog web pages are programmed) ???

I don’t know how to avoid the scripts from running one by one, or if that is even possible. Maybe in the Advanced Options of IE?

Going on the info from Bob, and my own observations (seems the facebook like link takes a while to load)

Maybe try blocking the like box script. I vaguely remember reading that it made some pages load slow/unresponsive.

Looking at ABP in Firefox, the script is:


https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js

Maybe you could try adding that to the Restricted sites section in the options (so that it doesn’t load). See what the result is.

I don’t know if someone from Avast Team saw this topic, some email get somewhere, or whatever else that could have happened, but the fact is that the message posted in the attached picture in the first post is no longer there, and I would say it seems the page is loading a little bit faster than before.

If this changes again, I’ll certainly post again here, and I invite anyone else to re-test the blog page again so to check if anything is different now from what was happening / being experienced before (whether in speed, messages, scripts or whatever).

Anything new / different for anyone?

From what I see when trying to load the blog, the facebook like box is the last thing to load and it takes a while…

Well, it can’t be just random, can it?

What happens if you block facebook? Try blocking facebook.* (like facebook.com AND facebook.net AND …). Does it help?

I have no idea which script is there that can be so heavy to cause such a problem. It’s just a blog!!!

I’ll try to keep hoping for some input from the webmaster or someone from Avast Team (just because hope is the last thing to loose).
