Blonde Needs Help

I am a technophobe and although I have read some things on the error I am getting it is way over my head. In the past 15 minutes my PC has BOSD with aswsynx.sys error. I have not updated anything at all apart from a week or so ago updating to Windows 8.1. Both times I was trying to get on a game in FB or by Zynga’s website. Can someone explain to me please in easy to understand English why this is happening and do I need to do anything as worried my Lenovo Ideacentre will be affected by this.

Thank you for any help to rectify this and apologies Admin if I haven’t put it in the right section.

Hi is this a continual problem or was it just a one off ?

What version of Avast do you have

I only have the free version of Avast but it doesn’t tell me which version. It has happened twice today and once last week.

Welcome to the forum.
May I suggest you try a repair of avast! as a first step.
You must be online to0 do this.
Control Panel > Programs and Features> select avast! as the program to uninstall or repair then scroll down and select Repair.
Once completed, reboot your computer and see it that’s solved you problem and let us know.

Bob,

Firstly thank you for your welcome and secondly it seems to have fixed the matter as I went on the game and played it for five minutes with no problems. So a big thank you as I was getting a tad worried.

Right to be a tad worried, as a system driver can cause the real-time protection we depend on against malware to not work properly, or not at all. (aswsynx.sys is an avast! system driver).

BTW, either here or in the Avast! Free/Pro/Suite section is appropriate to post when asking for help. You got virus? System won’t start or boot? Then go to viruses and worms for that. ;D

Happy to be able to help and glad you’re up and running again without any problems.
By the way, I’m used to helping “Blonds” 3 of my girls are Blonds.
