Blue Screen after deleting avast.

Hi, one of my client is having an avast problem. It cannot be started and cannot be deleted. I run the add/remove program in windows xp and try to remove the avast but to no avail. It just prompt error that the avast cannot be removed. I had also try to reinstall the avast to replace the existing one but also it doesn’t work.

So, I go into safe mode and remove the whole avast folder into the recycle bin and the add/ remove program that has avast is no longer there. Then, I restart the computer into normal mode. As it turns into a bluescreen after the windows logo.

The bluescreen states:
C000021a {fatal System Error}
The windows logon system process terminated unexpectedly with status… system has been shut down.

After this bluescreen, I did a safe mode again and restore the avast from the recycle bin. The computer is back to normal in the normal startup mode.

What could be the issue about this?

Hi All,

I managed to solve this antivirus removal and bluescreen issue. I downloaded the avast removal utility @ http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility
Then I run that utility as it boots into safe mode. After that It helps me to remove the whole avast files/registry in my computer.

After the antivirus removal, I was able to reinstall the new avast version at normal boot up.

Thanks to the utility.

:wink:

It;s always nice when something works the way it’s supposed too. :slight_smile:
