Looks like this first version of avast 5 is very unstable. I had to uninstall it because of the continuous BSOD.

it’s working fine for me… ;D

someone?!?!
Im using avast 5 pro edition
Right now I dont have antivirus in my computer so please help me with this BSOD problem!
thank you

Did you try with Behavior Shield disabled?

Go to PROFILE then Modify Profile then Forum Profile Information then update your Signature: with information like my signature as this helps the helpers offer advice.

In Account Related Settings select Hide email address from public? to prevent scammers and spammers harvesing your email address.

No…
I just Uninstall avast 5 and 10 hours my computer turn on and no Blue screen…
so of course the problem is avast 5…
please fix it or I will move to other Antivirus Product.

thank you

I’m having random BSOD’s with Behavior Shield enabled but when i turn it off problems are gone.

Just from very preliminary information that I am gathering, while both have some bugs that need to be worked out. (See my recent topic on this,) the Free version seems to be working better than the Pro version.

Jack

@ Jack

The Pro version is working fine on my XP Pro system.

I don’t think so. Before uninstalling, I had the Avast free version on my pc, and like many other people, I also experienced BSODs. So I think is a more general issue.

Hi, EliyahuT

For me all also same - BSOD and restart over and over…like song
Go back to 4.8
By the way, on my other computer it’s all right !

It’s your dump

On Fri 01.22.2010 12:30:03 your computer crashed
This was likely caused by the following module: aswmon2.sys
Bugcheck code: 0x100000C5 (0x0, 0x2, 0x0, 0x8054BFCB)
Error: Unknown
Dump file: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini012110_01.dmp
file path: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\aswmon2.sys
product: avast! Antivirus System
company: ALWIL Software
description: avast! File System Filter Driver for Windows XP

my dump is the file ntoskrnl.exe is crash…

Same thing and avast does not seem to react (I sent a ticket , no answer) .

What is this for a servive !!! really I am not happy at all

Why did the managers do not answer?
I bought license for 2 Years to avast pro and nobody help me!
I Did clear install of avast 5 and nothing help!
every 1 hour I have BSOD!
I’m thinking of buying licensed to ESET Antivirus and sell avast license but I dont want to do it because avast is best antivirus i have Used…

Could it be that the BSOD’s are triggered because of the built-in firewall that’s in the 5.0 version?
That it conflicts with the firewall of the windows OS?

Could anyone try this.

I’m experiencing bsod’s too.
I’m running the “old” 4.8 now because of it.

No it dosent because Im using pro version that not include firewall…

The free version has no FW either.

So the Behaviour Shield is the culprit here would you say?

I was reading in another topic on this forum that enabling/disabling the Behaviour Shield did not cause a BSOD.

My experience with Avast free version on XP Pro (with updates):

Uninstalled Avast 4 and installed Avast 5.0.377. After logging in, just after the desktop was displayed, PC rebooted, every time. Tried uninstalling (had to use safe mode) and reinstalling, but same behavior. No opportunity to adjust Avast settings.

So I’m afraid I took the easy option and switched to another free AV.

Cheers
John

I switch to ESET NOD32 Antivirus with 30 days trial…
if avast will not fix that problem I will stay with ESET and buy license for it.
