starting last week we have seen Blue Screens every time we have started a special production program on a Windows XP machine. One day later we have encountered the same problem on another Windows XP machine (after this machine has downloaded the newest Avast version too). And we have seen the same problem if we start the UpdateGenerator (for WSUS). If we deactivate Avast for e.g. 10 minutes, the Blue Screen will not happen.
We know, Windows XP is unsupported, but we have special production software, which is not compatible with newer operating systems (yet).
I have the mini dumps available. Is there any place where I can upload these files (I can’t attach these files as .dmp is not allowed)
Is there anything, we can do against this problem? It’s not a good solution to deactivate Avast every time manually.
i’ve been using avast for a couple of years now on all my computers–with no problems–and all of the sudden, BSOD! one XP computer gave me a blue screen of death when i try to go online, or even when i just do nothing–it just happens eventually. let it sit for 5 or 10 minutes and the BSOD happens. the other XP computer just kept continually rebooting itself.
i uninstalled avast on my two XP computers, and i haven’t even turned on my good computer (which is running vista–yes, i know, i am getting a new computer soon, or soon-ish).
WSUS 3.0 Service Pack 2 (WSUS 3.0 SP2) was released in August 2009. It is a significant update from previous versions of WSUS and fully supports Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 clients.
has anyone any hint for me to avoid this problem? The problem seems to increase from week to week! Now we can’t start the next programs! Interesting is, that this happens everytime after an Avast update. And it happens at different computers at different times (dependent when these computers get their Avst update)
Or is this because of the unsupported WindowsXP? But I thought, Avast should support WindowsXP currently and in near future too. Or is this not true?
