so up until a couple days ago my computer was running fine all the time. then all of a sudden it started opening absoultly every progream (firefox, my documents, windows media player, etc) really slowly. i figured virus so i try ruunning my system scan and it blue screens during the scan. one time it said bad pool something then the others its said different things. ive updated all of my drivers and windows updates. im not sure why but it continues to blue screen and restart as well as run really slow. help? i figure its some sort of virus but im not sure if im correct or how to go about getting rid of it. i cant system restore because theres no set point for it and i really dont want to have to restore it to the default setting so any advice is much appriciated
the only antivirus ive ran is avast

We need more information. What Operating System, what Antivirus did you have before avast!
and how did you remove it ???
What Bob asked was what AV was on the system before avast, how did you remove it? did you also run the vendors removal tool to remove leftovers after deleting the AV.
Also what is your operating system and version of avast and are any other security softwares installed on the system.
