Every time I do a quick scan or a full system scan, somewhere along the way my laptop goes into blue screen and restarts. I’m using avast! Free. Please help.
Hello and welcome to the forum!
- Which OS? (32/64 Bit - which SP)
- Which program version (7.0.1474 is the latest)?
- Other security related software installed?
- Which AV did you have before?
DJBone
Hey thanks!
-My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit SP 1
-Yes, my avast! is updated
-None whatsoever, except this Windows Defender thing if you could count that as one
-I had Avira Antivirus before, but I’ve already deleted it. I also used Avira’s Registry cleaning software to totally erase Avira from the registry
Did you run Avira registry cleaning before or after you intalled avast! ?
Repair Avast!
Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs & Features > uninstall a program > select avast! and click " Uninstall/Change ". Look for " Repair ". Reboot when finished.
Run a quick scan. if still BSOD, better to send Minidump or dump to avast! ftb servers.
Look for the latest minidump in C:\WINDOWS\Minidump or if you have W 7 in C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP Compress it with ZIP, RAR or 7Zip and give it an original name ( your forum userBSOD). It will also be a good idea to include a text ( use notepad ) with your Forum e-mail and URL of this post.
Upload the minidump to ftp://ftp.avast.com/incoming
Or Start > Run > Copy/paste " explorer ftp://ftp.avast.com/incoming " without quotes. Drag dump file into the ftb window.
Uhm, that was after I finished installing avast!.
Thanks man, great help!
