blue screening since update to 5

Happened twice this week, a pop up comes up saying that avast was updated, then the computer blue screens. After reboot a message says that the update failed, and when I try to click the update now button it keeps failing saying the package is broken.

I’d uninstall your existing copy, reboot, then install the new 5.0.396 build.

just happened again…

Second blue screen after updating to 5.0.396. both times , like the few before the update, happens during the message “Virus database has been updated”.

Please check the folder C:\Windows\Minidump - are there any recent files there? (with timestamps corresponding to the bluescreens)

uploaded 6 of them, all since the first one i got from the older version to now. Dumps 013010+ are with 5.0.396
