Hello everyone,

i have a problem with the “complete scan” function.
Everytime I try to run this scan my PC bluescreens around 20% into the scan.

The bluescreen message is:

page_fault_in_nonpaged_area

in aswSP.sys

The complete scan fuction is the only time i have ever encountered a bluescreen on my win10 this far.
I have tried three times now and ran into this error every time.

What can i do?

  • OS…? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP/Build…?)
  • Other security related software installed…?
  • Which AV(s) did you use before Avast…?

Avast Free

17.8.2318 (build 17.8.3705.249)

Win 10 Pro 64

No other security software

Avast free was the first and only installed security software after a clean reinstallation of win10

  1. Download Avast Free Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup_offline.exe
  2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.

It seems to work now. Usually it would have crashed by now
