Is this a desktop PC I take it ?..meaning no battery.
Do you have a lot of power outages where you are ?
If so, do you leave apps open and these power outages crash the machine while open ?
I ask because there is no “graceful” shutdown for a desktop PC with power outage or even power blip.
The O/S basically “crashes” and then recovers on boot…but this can cause a lot of the chkdsk errors you see over time.
Where I am does not have outages but power “blips”…so I have a powerstrip that has battery and it comes with USB connection and small software app that I can set to shutdown the PC gracefully. The battery does not hold the PC up for long…say 10 minutes…but that is not my intent. I just want enough time to shut things down or if power blip the PC keeps running…or if I am away the software detects power is off and shuts down PC nicely. Anyway, just a thought if you are not on battery. Which, BTW if you have a laptop/battery PC you need to change the critical power level alarm action to do a shutdown…many times these just put in STBY…this can save you if you are away when all this happens.
