Board Suggestion

This is just a thought, but what about creating a board for Avast! Antivirus users where they can provide each other unofficial support for Windows 10 Insider Preview builds, (and the like)? Since the Avast! team does not support these directly, it would give users a good place to discuss changes and problems that can affect Avast! in the official builds that follow these test phases. It could also lead to early research which could potentially benefit the Avast! development team later when the official builds are released with changes that still cause problems for Avast!, (or vice versa).

Additionally, doing this would cut back on the number of topics being created based upon Insider Preview builds, and would give a centralized location where users can be advised of the situation regarding Insider Preview builds not being supported directly. Since Insider Preview builds are likely not going away any time in the near future, if ever, this could be extremely beneficial.

Essentially, this is the same basic concept of the beta version boards, (but obviously just with the platform and product in reversed roles).

There’s a simple rule. The preview builds aren’t supported.
Starting new thread on preview builds isn’t going to change that fact.
There’s already a thread on Windows 10 https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=156141.0

I am aware they are unsupported. I made that clear in my original post. The idea is so users can support each other since the Avast! team doesn’t. The Insider thing is very public and widely used. Simply telling users to go elsewhere is essentially saying to a very large userbase that they aren’t cared about. I completely get why the Avast! team can’t and won’t support them, but why leave them in the shadows when you can allow them to discuss things among themselves? Isn’t that the reason why the support forum exists in the first place?

Obviously the Avast! team hasn’t been extremely picky about this subject, as they allow the topics to exist and be discussed among users in the normal boards, even if unsupported, (and told such). This idea is simply to create an area where the unsupported discussions can be collected, and the support status from Avast! directly be made obvious so users are aware they are on their own to help one another.

If the Insider Preview program were something very closed and small, I’d understand simply posting a topic in the normal board and moving on, but this program is constantly growing in size. As a long-time user of Avast!, and someone who is involved in the Insider Preview program myself, I still continue to use Avast! knowing that it is unsupported on these builds, just as I continue to use the builds themselves knowing that they may have issues. (After all, testing is the whole idea behind it all, and I would rather stay safe while participating in such. That is why I use beta versions of Avast! from time to time too).

Edit: I think there is some confusion on what I mean. What I’m saying is a new forum board, (likely underneath the “Avast Free Antivirus / Pro Antivirus / Internet Security/ Premier” one, not a new topic compartmentalizing everything specific to Windows 10).

Edit #2: I’m thinking something like “Insider Preview Discussions” or similar naming, with something such as “Collection of topics regarding the use of Avast! products on unsupported Windows 10 Insider Preview builds” as the description.

Considering that the next release of Windows 10 is due next month,
Avast had better be close to being compatible with that release.

While I completely agree with you there, (and I’ll be quite upset if we’re both wrong hahaha), the Insider Preview program will likely continue going on for several years to come since Windows is becoming a “service” in terms of releases now.

As I said, there’s already a topic on Windows 10. That includes insider preview builds.
If you want another one, nothing stops you from starting it.
