Boot problem - aswrvrt.sys

Hi,
I tried to boot my computer this morning, but unfortunately, the loading bar is stuck.
My OS is Vista 64.
When i try to boot in safe mode (with or without networking), the last loaded driver is aswrvrt.sys. Then, after several seconds, the computer reboot itself.

I tried to repair Vista’s boot with the installation DVD, but it failed. I ran a chkdisk on my system SSD, it fixed few errors on the index, but it did not solve the problem.
For security reason, I’ve disconnected my 2 other hard drives. I’ve also tried to boot again without the data hard drives with no result.

I’ve done a memory test with the windows vista utility on the DVD with 2 passes. The RAM seems OK (no error reported)

I’m running out of idea now

When I run the boot repair utility, a prompt tell me it can’t automatically repair the computer, and in the details there’s a line with “corruptRegistery” :-/

I remember that yesterday I updated avast software, it asked me to reboot but I choosed “later…”.
I keep on investigating…
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

attach a OTL diagnostic log and somone will have a look inside http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0

Sorry but I can’t run OTL from the DVD command line :frowning:
I noticed two other threads (http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=120531.0 and http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=122879.0) where the users were asked for a FRST log.
So here’s the mine (attachement) if it helps.

I wonder if this is a windows update that is related to the SSD drive, as aswrvt.sys was the last file successfully loaded. You need to run FRST from the command line on the Windows CD as opposed to the command line from the safe mode menu

It’s a FRST log from the command line. I can’t even start in safe mode.
Do you think it’s a windows update that messed up my system ?

That appears to be the problem as all the cases of this that I have come across have had a different root cause. If we knew what driver loaded after the last successful one I would have something to work with

Is there a way to find it ? I have the access to the entire filesystem from de Windows DVD command line.

Have you tried repair my computer option from the windows DVD

Yes, as explained in my first post, the repair fails and it tells the registry is corrupt.

Does last known good on the safe mode menu work… ?

No, the loading bar gets stuck as in normal mode :frowning:

Unfortunately this looks like a re-install for this system. Is there any data that you need to recover ?

All my personnal data are on different hard drives. I will lose the softwares entries in the registry and will be forced to reinstall them.
I managed to boot once on safe mode with command line prompt, but when I tired to reboot in safe mode with network, the computer showed up the loggin screen for a second and then restarted again…
Now I don’t manage to boot again is safe mode with command line :frowning:

I’m going to clone my system disk to an image and make a complete system reinstall.
Thanks for your help.

I am just sorry we could not resolve it
